International Women's Day is celebrated in over 100 countries around the world.
Here is a brief history of women's day.
In 1910, the Socialist Women in Copenhagen, the decision was taken to institute a day to support women's suffrage.
Then, the day was celebrated annually in many countries, under the leadership of the German communist Clara Zetkin. In Sweden celebrated it since 1912 on different dates in spring.
March 8th
After the Russian Revolution divided the labor movement were further celebrations of the communist branch. In 1921 it was established that March 8 would be the date for the celebration.
1969 celebrated nyfeminister March 8 in Berkeley (USA) - and the idea was passed around the United States and Europe. 1977 United Nations decided to introduce a common women's day. 1978 is International Women's Day with the UN's list of anniversaries. As it became Women's Day, a non-political anniversaries.
